Vera Marie Linze

Vera Marie Linze, age 96, of Pinckneyville, IL, the last three years residing in the Skilled Care Unit of the Pinckneyville Community Hospital, passed away Thursday evening, March 6, 2003, at the Skilled Care Unit of the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.

Vera was born November 5, 1906 in Pinckneyville, IL, the daughter of Fred and Josephine (Dintelman) Gossman.  She was united in marriage to Oscar F. Linze in Nashville, IL on July 30, 1924 and celebrated their 60th Wedding anniversary before he preceded her in death on November 2, 1984.  Vera was employed at the Garment Factory in Pinckneyville, a member of the U.C.C. Church and Ladies Guild in Pinckneyville, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Senior Citizens, Gold Plate, Past President of Pinckneyville War Mothers and a volunteer Worker at Perry Manor for many years.  Before Vera was married she taught Sunday school at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pinckneyville, IL.   She enjoyed baking for others, and loved birds and animals, gardening and flowers.

Vera is survived by two daughters, Norma G. Kroener and husband Charles of Nashville, IL, and Lana J. Overturf and husband Dale of DuQuoin, IL, one sister, Geraldine (Boots) B. Erwin of Pinckneyville, IL, nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.  Vera was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Oscar Junior Linze, Loren Walter Linze, one sister, Edna Rice, three brothers, William (Bud) Gossman, Fred Gossman, and Earl Gossman, and a granddaughter, Linda Sue Kroener.

Funeral services were Monday morning, March 10, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL with Reverend Howard Self officiating.  Interment was in the Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.

Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and again on the day of the services from 8:00 a.m. till services.
